A note from Marika:
Hi! I’m so happy that you are here. I wanted to take a moment to share a bit about myself, both as a clinician and an individual to help you better know who will be working with. I was born in and spent my early childhood in Finland, prior to moving to Colorado, in the US. My husband and I moved back to Finland in 2022. I am thrilled to be back in Finland and a personal goal is to regain my Finnish language skills that went missing over the years. In my personal time, I enjoy being outdoors and count myself lucky to have lived in two beautiful places with so much nature to experience. I enjoy hiking with my dog and we even hiked to the top of two “14ers” in Colorado. I think she prefers the flatter and softer terrain of the Finnish forests if I had a guess though. I am a big believer in self-care, whether it be mindful hikes, enjoying the sunshine, yoga, or spending time with loved ones. We must care for ourselves in order to care for others.
As a therapist, I often use the analogy of a trail guide. We collaboratively identify the starting and ending points, and I walk along side you, using my knowledge and the tools that I have to help guide you along the way. You make the conscious decision to walk along that path towards your goal. It’s hard work but I am there to support you through the difficult parts. I believe that a healthy therapeutic relationship, based on trust and connection, is the foundation to healing and growth. I work collaboratively with my clients to create goals based on reported symptoms and dysregulations. I use an integrative approach to therapy, incorporating elements of a variety of evidence based theories. If it sounds like I may the right fit for you, I encourage you to reach out for a free 20 minute consultation or schedule your first session. I look forward to hearing from you!
